Ford did this very similar styling exercise, but everyone flocked to the boxy, rugged looking Bronco Sport which happens to have the same platform and drivetrain rated 28/34/30mpg for 1.5t

I had a 22 HRV loaner and the gear engagement between drive/reverse is easily 2 seconds before the gas pedal does anything. Had this same issue with my CVT Subaru Outback. It’s disgustingly annoying. But apparently it’s hit or miss? My friends forester doesn’t do that neither does his civic. My Nissan didn’t either.
