2020 VW FACTORY FILTER CUT OPEN

Good Evening again folks
This filter was on a friends 2020 VW Jetta with 4cylinder engine for 4,400 miles. I installed Castrol Pro 0w20 oil he brought that meets the VW spec and another VW filter. Looks ok to me.

I’d say so. Surprised to see E Core cage with metal end caps though. Maybe I’m just old

This is the somewhat rarer FFA filter.

It has some similarities and some obvious differences from the more common MHL filter.

Every service one i have seen is MHL...

FWIW mine had an MHL on it from the Factory.

They are also what the dealer gives me.

Our 2010 Golf TDI had a cartridge, but our 2009 Tiguan was a spin on (although it had a threaded bolt in the filter and threaded into the engine vertically near the head)

Yes, the 1.4T has a easy to find PH3614 sized filter or euro equivalent(higher bypass).
I run the XG3600 oversized on my 1.4T. The XG2870a is the equivalent sized euro filter.

VW, in a few models, are beginning to use Full Synthetic media(something MH learned from Purolator/Wix acquisitions). Need to pull media apart for a looksy. If supported by metal/plastic mesh, could be full or high percentage synthetic media.

The made in Turkey filter is the factory installed filter. The dealer sourced filter is not made in Turkey.
