2020 Jeep Renegade oil filter CUT OPEN

My work bought this used Jeep Renegade “trail hawk” 4WD with 1.3 turbo 4 cylinder engine. 20k on odometer. Oil change done recently at Jeep dealer it was purchased from so not many miles. Had to get another filter to complete oil change and some MOPAR 0w30 (I don’t know much about oil so played it safe with Mooar 0w30 oil). Made in France. New oil filter cost us $6~ I’m betting adbv is silicone but I will do the now famous “burn test”

It didn’t burn as clean or nice as the Toyota filters silicone adbv; BUT this adbv is very soft, subtle like gum

White smoke and grayish white ash means it's silicone. Burn a nitrile ADBV so you can see how those burn - black smoke like crazy.

Only knock I have against the filter is very heavy, sloppy glue

That’s a negative. Oil I drained out of engine was clean, I could see thru it

As noted, definitely a Purflux made oil filter. This may be first one I've seen with Mopar on the can. Isn't the Renegade basically a Fiat? Might explain Purflux as manufacturer.

I'm going to say/agree, adbv is silicone.

Small yes but if you stretched the media out it would probably be 3 inches taller.

Simple shorty 20mm filter with high bypass. Nothing special. If there is room, I'd use more available 9688 or 3593a filters.

Cool post, love that filter! You went with Mopar 0w30 also! Can't beat that! My wife's Jeep Renegade has a (2.4L) motor and (9 Speed) transmission made in the USA and shipped to Italy to be installed in the car at the Fiat factory then shipped to New Jersey and on to dealerships.
