2019 Mazda3 revealed at LA Auto Show

I'm not too crazy about the redesigned Mazda3 hatchback. The back of the car looks like an egg and tiny rear passenger windows / hatch window makes it look strange. You can now get AWD in the Mazda3 hatchback.

Skyactiv X engines are nice technology but I'm wondering about their long term reliability.

I do like the redesign of the sedan. A very nice looking sedan compared to the silly plastic scoops on the 2019 Corolla and 2019 Civic.

The wagon looks like a Civic coupe clone.

I'm getting bored of their styling, maybe because Honda and Toyota ripped them off. I think the grain of rice shaped insect with sharp edges styling is lame across all three of them.

Raise the Mazda 3 hatchback AWD put on some funky wheels and raise ride height with a new name. It will sell like mad like the CrossTrek did spawning even MB and BMW copied.

Has a solid rear axle now and the view out the rear is terrible. I wish Mazda would do the Honda thing a make me a pickup from either the CX5 or CX9 with that lovely turbo 2.5 and a stick in 4wd form. Now THAT I would buy!

I used to do a lot of work for Mazda and the L.A. auto show, the guy that ran that part of marketing was the most difficult person I ever worked for! He was easily 10 years older than me, so I'm sure he is retired by now. I started doubling, and then tripling my bids for him till he just went away! I wanted rid of him that bad!

They have been driving cars with these engines in California and other places out west for a couple of years or so now. While it's not super long term, it's not testing by consumers either.

A car company that is supposed to have sporty cars going back to a live axle rear suspension? Yikes!

Its got bad proportions. Im sick of hearing how they are the car for people who love to drive but then they only offer the 6 in a basic trim with manual. Makes me mad because it would be the perfect affordable car for me and its so close but so far away. It makes me mad that they offer what I want everywhere but here.

I kept staring at the guy wearing green pants, a blue jacket, and red tennis shoes, amazed they let they guy on TV dressed like that.


I like the look of the sedan, i like the side mirror shape , and the front end. The hatch back looks ok until you get to the back. The rear lower quarter being black makes it look short.

I also don't like the angry birds rear tail lights.

I like the idea of a simple suspension setup on an economy car. I get that Mazda is selling "zoom zoom" or "feel alive" or whatever, but most people are just driving around playing with their phones.

Sedan looks better than the hatch. Either way, it'll be the second or third top selling "car" in Australia next year, behind the Corolla and possibly Hyundai i30. Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux will outsell all of them though!

this is another small car doomed since market is shifting away from econoboxes. looks ugly like most mazdas

To me, the hatch has just a hint of Porsche 928 in the rear.
The enthusiast will miss the rear independent suspension.
And I mean, did it really need AWD?... IDK!

I don't think the 3 series is doomed as it has been Mazda's #1 money maker. Not everyone wants a CUV!

What's that about the new engine coming out NEXT YEAR (2010). Does that mean the 2019 has the same 1998cc Skyactive engine our 2016 (and my sister's 2012) has?

To me the sedan has always looked better than the hatch after the 1st generation. This new generation sedan looks like its warmed over from the current gen but is still extremely handsome. I had a '15 Grand Touring sedan and I absolutely loved that design and the car overall.

It is sad that Mazda has ditched the fantastic control blade suspension they pioneered with Ford way back when. While more expensive to produce it seems like re-engineering a platform to accept a twist beam and designing an acceptable twist beam would negate any manufacturing savings. Volkswagen has gone back and forth with this nonsense for years (MKIV and earlier - all twist beam - MKV - control blade, MKVI - twist beam then later back to control blade, MKVII - back to twist beam) and they get roasted by enthusiasts and auto review outlets every time they switch back to twist beam.
