2018 Toyota Sequoia Castrol Edge 0W-30

Agree to disagree -- if the effect was negligible, OEM's would have no issues using high SAPS oils across the board. OEM's have to warranty catalysts for as long as 150K in some states and clearly, this continues to be a concern.
Mid/low SAPS only became a thing when DPF/OPF/GPF came along, for Euros anyway. A car with a conventional cat alone has nothing to worry about. Some early 2000s BMW V8s drink oil and they have 20 years of high SAPS oil but I never hear of cat problems.

Here is the UOA of Castrol Edge 0W30 in Sequoia. I am a bit disappointed with this new version. Zinc and Phosphorus are down compared to the previous version. Overall, it is good report, but IMO, nothing exceptional about this Castrol now. We'll see how it does in BMW, which has a much harder life than the Sequoia.
What would you consider a replacement for the Castrol, if you decide to switch? Mobil 1 ESP 0w-30?

Sequoia will see ESP 0W30 eventually. I have a lot of Motul left over on my shelf, so using that.
BMW, I will run Castrol 0W30 again to see how it lands. BMW has a much tougher life than the Sequoia. It is daily, I take it to ski, etc. Sequoia is basically a road trip car.
This sample had, though, maybe 7-8 ski runs, a trip to Vegas with numerous 30-minute idling sessions for breastfeeding baby, etc. So, oil was probably pushed more than your average Sequoia.

The additive pack is almost identical looking to TPT 0W-30 now except a bit more Ca+Mg. It could actually be better in theory with the reduction of ZDDP being offset by the reduction in the detergent content from the previous version. I still don't like the idea of A3/B4 with this low ZDDP even if BMW was already doing it with TPT... but maybe it works.
