This interval is for just over 4k miles and just short of 6 months.
Driving is 90% city except the following. This OCI includes 2 round trips (500~ mi each) to from LA to LAS. One way in summer I spent 7.5 hours in crawling traffic in over 100 degree temps with AC on, so very severe.
This is my first UOA, I'm very happy with the results. Supertech/Kirkland oil is the truth, I probably could've taken this another month or so to 5k. The visc drop is definitely fuel, but going 5w30 it shows it doesnt matter. I will stick with Xw30 weight oil, but may also try 5w20.
I will probably just stick with 6 month interval as I don't drive much these days. Used an OEM filter both times.
The weird thing is the motor did sound louder at high RPM before the oil change. I'm not sure why but maybe it's due to the oil thinning?
No idea why ALS Tribology omitted my data but they did process this sample in 24 hours! Very impressed with their Portland lab and it only costs me 3.82 to ship via USPS first class and a small bubble wrap..
