Just curious, did Honda do a software upgrade on all 1.5 liter engines prone to oil dilution? The reason I ask is I inherited my aunts '18 crv about a year ago. I love the car 55k miles, I changed oil about a year ago when I got it. Now 3.5k miles later I changed it again last week. The oil level was a bit above the dipstick and definitely smells like gas. I recall telling her about a year after she bought the car her oil smelled like gas. I knew of the dilution issue back then because thats what steered me away from buying a crv for my wife. I remember my aunt saying she did contact the dealership after I alerted her of possible dilution. I just dont know if they ever did anything to her crv after that. I do know she had all the service work done at the dealership. The last two oil changes I did I used the recommended 0w'20. I live in Minnesota and I know cold weather is a said factor in dilution.

It's supposed to help but not really. I remember china fought Honda to do more since they said it's not enough. If this was mine I'd be using 0w-40 so it can thin out to a 20 with that dilution. Don't forget to service the transmission. Valvoline cvt is pretty good I've used it once.

Cold weather definitely affects it. Also, short tripping it will cause problems as well. Take it on the highway or freeway for about 10-15 mins a day if possible.
