2018 Ford F150 6 Speed fluid type

Owners manual states Mercon ULV but it does not break it down as to what tranny was offererd. Shops say to use LV in 6 speed and ULV in 10 speed. Ford parts says ULV in all 2018 f150 regardless of tranny. Very confused.

Correct, as best I understand it.
All the 6R series (6R80, 6R100, 6R140) use LV.
All the 10R series (F150 and SD series) use ULV.

Mine is a 15 6R80 and LV is what I've used and what the manual spec's. Hope this helps.

VersaTrans is made by Phillips which has been the historic provider of most Motorcraft fluids, so likely the same or better than factory.

Yes. Few shops use the Motorcraft to avoid headaches with warranties.
Easier for Ford to weasel out if paying with xyz oil was "wrong" as an excuse.
