Startup wear also scares me too! I'd be afraid anything thicker than 0W16 wouldn't be able to reach all the nooks and crannies in the engine and it would wear out prematurely

Maybe it comes with an oil bottle(think old steam locomotive) where you can lube the top end before starting her up.

Question is :this 2018 Camry hybrid is designed for 0W16 or 15W40 ?
It can't be both right.

Toyota knows if they don't make *w40 acceptable they'd only sell 3 or 4 of them down under!

I'd be more concerned about the 15W than the 40 to be honest ahaha
Especially if you live in a colder area.

No, possibly based on reality/physics not mandated fleet mileage.

Or, Australia gets all the engines with the loose tolerance stack and needs the -40 to fill the gaps.
