My wife's 2017 Forester has an oil change scheduled at the dealer in 2.5 weeks. She's at 6500 miles and will be at least 7700 to 8000 when the oil change arrives. I changed it with Kirkland 0w20 in early June. It had a decent amount of town driving over the summer (1500 miles or so) and the last 3 months has been 70 miles, round-trip, commute daily, so basically all "easy" miles since August.
If I had an excuse to buy a new car, I might take it up with her. I want a minivan. She laughs at me and says she won't drive a minivan. I guess I have no shame. Or I'm a huge loser. I'm not certain. I'll schedule therapy to find out.
So, anyway, will the engine blowup and we'll end up with an Ascent even though I want a minivan (the couch isn't the worst place to sleep if I REALLY want my minivan)? Or will the car be fine, aside from rear wheel bearings every 17 miles, like a typical Subaru of this vintage?
I need your support through this matter. My sleep depends on it.
Thanks in advance to all the caring members of BITOG for helping me out. used oil analysis from the era of this Subaru would be helpful, or maybe not. Depends what they show.
