It is not the same engine as used in the prior models. The timing chains have been simplified and redesigned as have the cylinder heads. I have the truck version of this same engine in my 2017 GMC Canyon and love it. Use a Dexos1 Gen2 5W-30 oil. I change mine at halfway on the OLM leaving the filter in and then take it to the dealer when the OLM reads zero for new oil and filter. That way the dealer is on record as having changed the oil at the GM specified intervals for warranty plus I get the peace of mind knowing that the oil is refreshed and doing its job between dealer changes. Use top tier gasoline and occasionally add a PEA fuel injector cleaner to keep the high pressure direct injection nozzles clean.

Reading the features section was really impressive. Thanks!

I am wondering if that info is correct? Our 2017 3.6 doesn't have the active fuel management system as far as I know and it certainly doesn't have the stop/start feature.

"Carviewsonic, I recently asked you in the vehicle section/Impala post if you got your new Impala yet.
Glad you did and glad to read you're enjoying it."

Sorry, I guess I missed your earlier post.. yes, they are very nice cars. I just installed a screen cover from Amazon on the nav touch screen:

'LFOTPP Chevrolet Impala 8 inch MyLink 2014-2018 Car Navigation Screen Protector, [9H] Tempered Glass Center Touch Screen Protector Anti Scratch High Clarity'

Installation is easy, looks good, and the touchscreen isn't a mess of fingerprints anymore..

BTW That is an impressive shine on your Impala.

I stand corrected. Further research shows Chevrolet retained the LFX engine in the 2017 Impala. Certain Buick, Cadillac, and GMC models got the new design, but not Chevy. http://gmpowertrain.com/assets/docs/2017-US-Product-Information-Guide.pdf

Sharp looking car, CVS. I'll have to look into one of those protection screens.

I see that engine is/was only available in the Cadillacs and one Acadia. I assume, based on that article, the Impala and others won't be getting that engine anytime soon?
