hi everyone
I just put 10k on the 2016 xc90 and i am chnaging my oil.It say in the manual it says 5w30 ACEA A5/B5. None of the oils at my autoparts store are ACEA A5/B5 rated. they are all A1/B1 rated. My question is should i go with M1 right now which is not a5/b5 rated or wait and get a oil which is a5/b5 rated.

I may be mistaken, but I don't think there is any mention of ACEA A5/B5 on the back of the Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 label. However, the PDS does mention it, but only to say that it "exceeds the requirements of" and not actually meets it. May be splitting hairs though...

That's true, it doesn't have the cert. They probably figure it's not worth buying the cert. in view of the limited number of cars needing A5/ B5 specifically. He could step up to Castrol Edge 0w-40 to get BMW LL01.

not sure what the dealer charges but it says on the website convential oil chage is 54.00 no syn oil change price.

Use the Pennzoil and DIY.

The dealer will just use bulk Warren 5w30 and send you on your way happy that you did the right thing.

You know how the wording gets when there aren't formal approvals because it's ACEA. I was looking at some Petro-Canada HDEO sheets, and they walk a line, too, because the ACEA specifications are self-policed, so they can't really claim an approval, but meets, or exceeds, or whatever else floats their boat.
