Is there are really good argument of not putting in the recommended 0W20 for my wife's car? The maintenance free period is over and I sell Amsoil. Issue is they don't make a 0W20 however they have a signature series 5W20. This is just a sanity check and thanks in advance!

Your in Canada, where using something thicker than the vehicle manufacture recommends goes hand and hand. I'd use it without worry.

Sure....why not! It belongs to your wife....

Use LL oils. Amsoil makes LL01 oils.
BMW engines use specific 0W20 oils but you can use heavier oils. Just any, regardless of manufacturer, W20 oil won't cut it.

Where are you searching? Don't you have an owner's manual?

Exactly. I would check your owners manual. There will be a section usually near the back with something like this :

Suitable engine oil types Add engine oils that meet the following oil rating standards: Gasoline engine BMW Longlife-01 FE.
More information about suitable engine oil ratings and viscosities of engine oils can be requested from a dealer's service center or another qualified service center or repair shop.

Alternative engine oil types If an engine oil suitable for continuous use is not available, up to 1 US quart/liter of an engine oil with the following oil rating can be added: Gasoline engine BMW Longlife-01. API SL or superior oil rating.

If you're in warranty, use the LL-01FE. Out of warranty, you choice of oil is your decision...

My sister has a Cooper S but a year newer. I stick to the LL14 recommended 0w20. If it was my own car and actually got driven with any authority I would probably use LL01FE 0w30.

On the Amsoil Website....they do not list an oil for this vehicle, which is why I wrongly assumed they did not have 0w20. I understand how to read the owners manual and also the oil cap? Seriously, just because something is listed isn't meaning it's gospel and that's why I asked here? Thanks for everyone's help:) peace!

I recently changed the oil in my (new to me) 2017 Clubman S. I used the Mini 0w20 and filter purchased from an online vendor. I want to meet the specs set by Mini / BMW, especially during the warranty period. I wish that the major oil companies would sell a 0w20 oil that met LL14 specs that was available at all the big retailers.
