Apparently the 1.5T is a new design. GM's been pretty good about tuning their turbo engines for fuel economy compared to their competition, so seeing what it gets in the new Malibu will be interesting.

As per the article you linked to, the 2.0T will have 250 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque.

GM made a 7/8 Impala. I hear all the time about how great the new Impala is, yet I really haven't seen that many on the roads for debuting last year. I am in the market for something newer in a couple of years and so far there isn't much that GM has that has me interested in. GM is practically all that I have driven for 30 years.

The "all new" 2013 Malibu was hyped up for efficiency, Camaro styling influences and just being generally awesome, and we know how that turned out. An emergency refresh 1.5 years in, 1.5 years later it is already being phased out to rental car status like the fleet Impala is now.

This looks more cohesive than the current one, and nice but it may go from being 5th place midsize class to 4th next year. That would be a success in terms of sales anyway. I might be wrong, but I'm not all that blown away with this totally all new redesigned Malibu. It's like I've seen something like it before only 1/8 sized larger.

I'm not a fan of coffee or light colored interiors. Black all the way for me.

Found a picture of what I believe is a dark interior. Unless lighting is playing tricks on me.
