There's no one right answer; that's why we have so many great products from which to choose.

This is the exact kind of car that appeals to me. Small, lightweight, upscale car with a great drivetrain.

After I wrote that last response I learned that Acura made a lot of changes between this ILX and last year's model. So maybe they added enough value, especially with the K24 being standard.

And that's a tough list of requirements these days. Most of the new upscale cars are pretty porky, even if small. I was looking at the BMW M235i... it weighs around 3,500 lbs, which is about the same as my old 5-series. And 3,500 is not light by any stretch of imagination.

You could look at Scion FRS which weighs 2,800 lbs, but I'm not sure that it matches the ILX when it comes to upscale or even practicality factors.

I will say this, I test drove the TLX 2.4 with the 8 speed DCT. That is a very nice transmission. Now if they would put that trans in the Accord Sport or the Civic, I would break down and buy my first Honda. Every CVT transmission I have driven or been driven in just does not do anything for me.

Not sure why we're trying so hard to compare it to Accord, the two have different missions.

Because it is compared to an accord (and civic). Just like an A3 can and should be compared to a Golf. We did, at first we thought we wanted the A3, then decided to get a golf. Much less pretentious, and we actually liked the rabbit better, not just the cost savings from the purchase.
