Hello BITOG !
I do not claim to be an expert on oils, but I do enjoy reading these forums and trying to educate myself.
Looking at used oil analysis of other ecoboost engines it appears they are very hard on oil. My engine is the newer 2.7L and seems to be a lot less abusive on oil. Never less I am not sure how I feel about 10K OCI on a turbo engine......
My question is what would be the better oil for this engine and why? 5w30 is the spec and as we know the OLM would probably place it @ 10K. Truck has 15K on it now and I am torn between the magnetec and edge, edge is $2 more. Really the only used oil analysis to go off of is 1 guy using the Magnetec and another using Valvoline, both of which looked very good.
Castrol Magnetec -- Semi syn $2 cheaper than edge
Castrol Edge -- Noticed shift from Calcium to magnesium recently
Am open to running M1 as well but really not a fan boy of it.
PP is not longer stocked at my local Walmart, so lets count that out from the suggestion list.
