6.0 Vortec, bought new in July, 15k miles so far, its the supervisors truck at work, he assigned me to maintaining it, so far its had 3 oil changes, two with Napa Dexos syn 5W30 and the last with Smittys Dexos 5W30, with either Baldwin or Napa Gold filters every 5k miles (truck is driven in muddy, dusty conditions, OLM is usually at 40% when I change it). Price is not a concern, as the company pays for oil and maintenance items, and we mainly deal with Napa and O'Reillys. What do yall think would be the best out of Napa Dexos 5W30, Smittys Dexos 5W30, and O Reillys Dexos 5W30, all full synthetic oils, in terms of better protection? I'm leaning towards the Smittys and the O'Reillys oils first because I like to support Louisiana businesses, I buy the
Smittys at Napa also. (Smittys is out of Roseland, LA and O Reillys is made by Omni out of Shreveport) but if theyre not my best choices in terms of wear protection, I'll go a different route. I'd like to stick with a Dexos oil for warranty purposes. The truck is a pig on gas, its a single cab, has never gotten better than 12 mpg since new but has never gotten any worse.
