Figured I'd share this one, in case anyone else runs into the same issue: My best friend's folks dropped off their 39k mile, 2016 Cadillac SRX yesterday wanting a second (trusted) opinion after getting a $1,200 estimate from the dealer to replace rear control arms. The complaint was a high pitch squeak from the rear when hitting sharp bumps.
The noise was very apparent, so I had another tech drive while I rode in the cargo area in order to pinpoint the noise. Turns out, the suspension wasn't the issue at all! After doing some sleuthing along with a little Google diagnostic (yes, I admit it), I ended up applying Syl-Glide to the left and right bump stops along with applying a very light coating of generic chassis grease to both the latch and striker. Noise gone!
