My wife's truck had a CEL and the code was P015B which is bank 1 sensor 1. The truck has the 4.3l engine. The truck isn't here right now so I can't take a look. Is this pretty straight forward and easily accessible? Bank 2 sensor 1 was a PITA to change on my Ranger with the 4.0. Any tips/tricks/advice is greatly appreciated

Check the wiring and connector and look for a broken exhaust manifold bolt before throwing a part at it, you can also check the performance with the scan tool if you have one with that capability.
In the DIY world getting someone to diagnose it often cost more than throwing a sensor at it, in this case it is less than a $35 part from Bosch from Rock its not a bad thing to swap anyway, for that money I would do both front sensors especially if its close to or beyond 100K.

Sorry I haven't done one on one of these V6 engines but its not too bad even on the V8.

I'm not well versed on the emissions warranty, but that might be covered.

If it's giving you trouble try warming up the engine for a few minutes and if you can get a breaker bar on it that will surely help. At only 45k miles you may be surprised and it comes right off.

If you have a propane torch and a DMM you could pull it and bench test it before buying a new one. There are YouTube videos on how to do this... takes maybe 5mins once you have it off. Your upstream bank 1 and Bank 2 sensors should be the same except for lead length maybe. If the lead length is the same or sufficiently long enough, I'd swap both Bank 1 and 2 sensors and see if it throws a code on Bank 2. If not, and the code stays on Bank 1 it could indicate another issue besides the O2 sensor (bad clip on B1?)

It wasn't on for a long time, just one trip to work. I disconnected the negative cable to clear the code and I'll see if it happens again before replacing it. The code was P015B O2 sensor delayed response - lean to rich bank 1 sensor 1

We're taking a 400 mile round trip this weekend. Does anybody think it would be ok to take the truck. I figure it would be plenty of driving to see if it comes back but I don't want to damage anything. Opinions?

I highly doubt that.

Don't just trust the dealer's judgement.

I had the dealer tell me that the "front shocks" on my mom's 2012 Jeep Patriot were defective, but since they aren't struts, the warranty won't cover replacement, since they are "shocks". The guy argued with me and told me they are "coil-over shocks" not struts. We hung up, I called 3 other dealerships who all told me they are struts, then talked to his manager. Turns out, they're struts, and the service advisor was just an idiot.
