The "chrome" covering on the inside door handle of my 2015 Rogue is peeling. apparently this is not a unique problem. does anyone have any experience or more info?
No experience, but one word should take care of this, "warranty".
In general terms, chromed plastic is pretty much like painted plastic. Something went wrong with this particular supplier for these particular door handles. Replacements should be better.
I have the same problem with my 2010 Elantra.
I sanded the handle smooth (mainly the peeling parts) and applied several coats of silver nail polish.
Looks pretty good if you don't look close.
oh, definitely warranty. just curious on the back-story. on my Sentra a defect in the "Chrome" trim on the trunk caused the car to rust at 6 months. when it first happened I could find nothing; by the time I took it in, the dealer was well aware of the problem...
Plastic is very difficult to plate, any of the steps in the plating process or producing the base material goes wrong it peels. Nothing you can do about it except change the part. Warranty.
