I recently serviced my niece's 2015(?) Odyssey, top-of-the-line.
About 55K miles on the ODO.

The initial service drained 4.1 quarts; 3K miles later I drained 3.8 quarts.
I replaced the 3.8 quarts and it reads slightly overfilled after a drive.

What volume do you generally see on a spill-and-fill service on one of these vans?

Thanks in advance...

Depends on the temperature of the fluid and angle its drained.

I usually add 3 quarts and then top off till full.

Did Honda put dipsticks back in them ? I thought around 2010-2012 they removed the dipstick. Now that I think about it, I don't recall that our 2005 had a dipstick, just a fill port, and your only option was replacing what was drained.

Does it have a HOT and COLD marking ? When I use the HOT marking, I make sure the ATF is really hot, like after a 30+ minute drive.

True. I know for my Pilot, the manual says to add 3.6 qts after a D&F and then check/adjust as necessary.

Yes, there is a dipstick; it reads slightly over with a hot transmission.
Next time I will add 3.5 and check... I bet that will be right on the $$.
I have always replaced 3 quarts on my Honda cars (Acuras), except a '88 Civic that took 2.5 quarts.

Funny how the first drain was slightly over 4 quarts; that surprised me.

Thanks to all for your guidance.

Somewhere between 3.5-3.7.

BTW, make sure you get the software update done for the trans.

My owners manual (for my '12 EXL) specifies 3.3 qt for trans D/F. I found that draining it hot and then adding exactly 3.3 qts from the bottle (room temp) always brings the level exactly to the hot full line when I check it later after driving. Note that I never check the quantity when I drain.

Your trans is different than mine, but you should get good results if you start with the specified quantity for your trans (3.3 qt according to the 2015 manual).
