The daughter purchased a 2015 Ecoboost F150 with 80k miles on it a while back. She just rolled it over 100k and it is time for an oil change.

What's the thought from the collective here about this one? Would any of you actually push a turbo, gas engine OCI to 20k miles?

OMG NO!!!! Noth with that engine. I would simply do 5k OCI with SuperTech Synthetic 5w30. I realize I went with 5.0 in my 15 f150 but I'd have no issue owning a 3.5 Eco. All indications are great motor but they suffer fule dilution and the cam phasers and chains do a lot better with a 5k OCI and synthetic. Seriously think on that.

I was half joking with the 20k question. I know better than that. Just curious what comments it would stir up.

Mobil 1 isn't my favorite oil, as it shears and burns faster than I like.

With 100k on the engine, I am very, very, very tempted to go with Rotella T6 5w40, especially since she is moving to the heat of Texas.

That's not so cool for a site like this.

I am a Mobil 1 guy. That said a lot of oil analysis on here seem to show that the various Castrol products hold their viscosity better with fuel dilution. My 2.7 Ecoboost will be getting Edge for its next service.

I'm always curious when someone brings up ambient temperature.
Don't the engines run at the same temperature.... with the exception of extreme cold????
Isn't that a function of the radiator and thermostat?

Run the manufacturer recommended oil and use the OLM.
If that just seems wrong to you, change it as early as it pleases you.

I live in S Texas.
Have put 137k on a Gen 1 and just over 100k on a Gen 2 using the OLM, Magnatec, and a FL500s.

Use a good filter with a silicone anti-drain back valve and a good synthetic oil (shell gas truck is a great choice) and change sometime before 5k.

You need some gravy..... Biscut. You're a little too dry.

For God's sake... have some humor! Don't tell me COVID has gotten to you?

If that's "humor" in your original post stick to your day job. What part did I miss a laugh at? To the point, can't go wrong with a 5k OCI and a decent synthetic in the 3.5 or 2.7 ECO.

I run xw-40 oil's in mine with ~10k used oil analysis. All of my used oil analysis are posted here and I have over 122K on mine. Runs fine and it was a hard worker for the first 80k or so.

Have noticed several stern OCD like replies lately to people letting their hair down. Knickers getted knotted real quick around here.
