2014 VW Jetta transmission clunk...

2014 Jetta 1.8T auto has a small clunk when going from reverse to drive only. It just started recently, car has 23k miles. I posted on VW vortex but no responses. Anyone own this car feel free to comment. May be normal behavior but its only from reverse to drive and its just not starting at 23k miles. It has the 6 speed auto (not DSG).

Would it not clunk from park to drive or drive to reverse? Its only from reverse to drive. This is also not a head jolting clunk, but enough to hear and lightly feel in the car.
 
We had to swap gearbox on a under 100k km Caddy. Differential problem, known problem. I'm not sure what is going on with VW Group but it looks to me there isn't enough research done prior to letting products out.

For a company that built Beetle for over 40 years that is a strange thing.
 
With my Golf w/ Auto Transmission (non DSG), if I go from Park to Reverse, there is a very slight thump. I believe the cause of this is: (1) Car sitting overnight not perfectly level (2) the transmission is cold. Once I'm up the driveway and go from R to D, no issues. Also, if I let the motor warm up, this doesn't always happen nor if the car is parked overnight on level ground. So, I'm looking into doing a drain/fill w/new transmission filter in the near future. (I'm @ 25k mi.) Could also be that the factory didn't fill w/the correct amount of fluid? I'd look into this w/the dealer as well. I believe VW recommends transmission service @ 40k miles. You may want to do this sooner (as I will). Keep us posted. Bill.

With appropriate oil change and GL4/GL5, gears and bearings of simple gear trains like differentials/planetaries/spur gears seldom broke down for prolonged use.
If one ever broke, it's always and only caused by inadequate oil viscosity grades, commonly specified in 'modern' vehicles for FE/efficiencies .
