Hello everyone i have a 2014 chevy silverado with the new 5.3 ecotech engine.i am thinking about once my free oil changes are done switching to mobil1. Does anyone have a 14 or 15 and are currently using mobil1?
If so how do you like or dislike it.

Just use anything Dexos approved. We run a fleet of 5.3's and 6.0 powered trucks and they all run great on whatever approved synth/semi-syn is on sale...

Your 5.3 is the latest GEN 5 version with Direct Injection. This engine calls for 0w20 and I would recommend a good synthetic in that grade such as Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum, etc.

I don't own the truck describe above, but from what I know. Like what other say, use what other say, use a dexos1 approved oil. Since your truck calls for 0w20, then your only choose so far, other than AC Delco oil is a full synthetic oil. As far as Mobil 1 goes, regular Mobil 1 does not have a 0w20. You would either need to use Mobil 1 Advance Fuel Economy or Mobil 1 Extended Performance.

I will stay with 0w20. The gm fill is synthetic blend. I want to go with the advanced fuel economy and it is dexos aproved.

Yes it is a PF63.

Any Dexos rated 0w-20 is great. Personally I grab two 5 quart jugs of M1 or PP and a PF63 filter at Walmart for about $65 out the door. Most of the Ecotec 5.3 UOAs show no issues with fuel dilution so I go for the full length of the OLM which works out to about 7200~7500.

+1

Thank you! Glad to know now. You'd think GM would mail that out to owners or something. I never visit the dealership.

Don't feel bad, they updated the service manual on capacity and didn't tell us techs that work on them either.
