Well after dropping my 3rd lifter in 9 months I made the decision to do a BTR delete kit (BTR L86 delete cam) with GM performance LS7 lifters. It’s definitely time consuming, but shouldn’t have anymore issues now. Here’s a few pics of the progress.
I replaced almost everything I could while I was there. Oil pump, water pump, thermostat, rear main, transmission filter, belts, and so on. If you can name it, then I probably replaced it.
It’s back in my driveway today.
Just because I know I’ll get asked
Filter: Acdelco PF63
Oil : dealer bulk 0w20 for the first 500 miles.
Just wanted to share. Thanks for the read.

That's a lot of work! Let us know how it runs!!! I'm not at all sure 0W anything is the right choice for a now conventional configuration. I would suggest syn 5W-30. Good idea to change it right away!

Are you considering replacing the rod bearings while it's on a stand? I don't know if the 6.2 likes fresh rod bearings with used mains but I personally would be considering it if I was looking at it on a stand. I might even go with a teardown of the block and rebuild it. I get it if it's a quiet motor just leave well enough alone

I plan to switch to 5w30 in the future. I’ll be doing some uoa’s.

The truck is already back together. I work in a Gm shop. Everything looked great. The first owner took really good care of it, just as I have. We inspected everything while it was torn apart, but I appreciate the suggestion!

Good to hear! I have a 2012 6.2 with 145K and while the DOD is doing fine (knock on wood) I know this would likely be the route I would take if something happens.

I did get a light tick on the RH bank a short while ago and feared the lifter, happened at idle. Turned out to be the rocker arm when the engine heated up. There's just enough play in the trunion to remove the lash, I replaced all 8 and will do the LH when I get time. I need to do a thread on this.

stop buying the amf dod trucks in the first place. mabey detroit will get the message
I work for one of the top selling Cadillac dealers in the nation. They’re all sold before they even get to us, so try taking your message to the masses.
Maybe I want/like this truck, and want to keep it long term?
Although I agree that Afm is dumb. It’s not gonna stop GM from producing them.
The failure % is so small compared to what they sell.
