2013 VW TDI 5K Mile VW Dealer OC. Too much wear?

This was my first UOA. Last two OC's were at dealer with factory oil and filter. New factory air filter last OC, check all intake connections. Had a new DPF installed. Sent this in to Blackstone as I did my own OC with Pennzoil Euro L 0W30. Any other TDI's with this kind of wear?

"Any other TDI's with this kind of wear?"

That is what Blackstone is telling you on the far right under universal averages. Yours is an outlier, likely due to a leak at the air intake.

If you are certain its now fixed, those wear #s should gradually reduce. I would sample again in 3k for validation.

I'd up my oil viscosity grade a notch and resample at the next 10,000 mile interval. VW norm 504/507 used to be only 5W-30 when these engines hit the market.

I ran Mobil-1 ESP 5W-30 in my CBEA powered Jetta (2009 model) before VW bought it back from me. I never had unusually high wear numbers like this. The universal averages noted on the right side of the analysis page do represent what I used to see in my engine on 10,000 mile drain intervals.

Agree w/BS that it looks like it's a bit excessive wear than average. It does show almost x3 the silicon (dirt) so that may be the reason for the readings. Like @cptbarkey suggested to up the viscosity for now & peak around intake area again. Also, why the low mileage on this car & you mentioned DPF replacement. Was this just a very local transportation of sorts for you or the previous owner?

that looks like an API SP oil, not intended for a diesel engine. 10.55 cst?

But even then the moly is high, MoS2 added?
This sample is of the VW oil, not the Pennzoil I just switched to. When I got the car back from the last dealer OC the first time I checked the oil it was a little low on the dipstick and topped off with a half can of Liquimoly MoS2.

I'll definitely up the viscosity at the next oc and double-check for any possible intake leaks. I bought this car 6 months ago and have put a little over 10k miles on it. It was a buy-back that had under 50K miles when VW recertified it. It's still under VW's dieselgate warranty for me until February of next year, unless I drive the wheels off it before then. It threw a code for the DPF and VW dealer swapped in a new one under warranty and replaced my airbag from a recall while they were at it.

Thanks for that, Still low mileage for the year and sounds like it didn't spend much time up to temp.

No I think the dealer used the wrong oil
