I bought a used 2013 Ford Edge. I changed the old very soon after purchase, and decided to do an oil analysis when the new oil was changed. I used Castrol Edge 5w20 High Mileage oil and a Mobil1 oil filter because they were on sale. This change I used Castrol Magnatec, which I plan to use from here on out if the next analysis looks good.

2013 Ford Edge
38611 total miles
7350 miles on oil
1 year 3 months on oil

WIX OIL ANALYSIS REPORT

DIAGNOSIS
All wear levels appear within acceptable limits for first
sample. Silicon level (dirt/sealant material) satisfactory.
Water content acceptable. Viscosity within specified
operating range. Action: As oil already changed,
resample at next recommended interval to monitor and
establish wear trend.

Unit No. Edge 1
ANALYST: roldan.beldad

I know very little about oil analysis numbers, and this is the longest I have ever ran oil, and my first pure synthetic. By these numbers, does everything look good, and with using Magnatec this oil change, is it possible to go to 8k miles with no problems?

This is a very good report.

You went almost that far already!

Your TBN at the end was still 4.7 - I'd have no hangups about going longer on this oil.

Thanks. I'm using Magnatec now. Going to keep an eye on it and go at least 7500 miles on it unless it starts disappearing or looking very bad. The Edge H/M didn't go down a bit and wasn't completely black yet. After over a year in use I had forgotten what I put in it when I changed, hence the Magnatec this time.

I had forgotten I put the Magnatec in my 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis at the same time I changed the Ford Edge oil. I was thrilled with the performance of the Magnatec in the 160k mile Mercury, but unfortunately was unable to run the full oil change, as it ended up totaled from a falling light pole someone hit.

The copper is what I'd keep an eye on. I don't think it's a problem now because your other wear metals are low and there's no signs of elevated sodium or coolant, so it's probably just normal wear for this engine.

Nice report..ðŸ‘

The basic value of this report is the oil is suitable for continued use. The wear metals are ok which may or may not mean anything for now. One year call it time to change the oil and filter just because. The oil change costs vs the cost of the uoa on this vehicle. Maganetch is a good oil as are all from the majors .
