2013 Fiesta ... Sensor after impact

Hit hog last week. 2013 Fiesta SE Hatch 5 speed manual. Looks like a trip to the shop. I noticed this sensor hanging down further inside. I am guessing it is a temperature sensor, either for engine management of for the dashboard display. Any ideas? Not pulling any codes. Car is running normally.

That hog popped out of nowhere. Slammed on the brakes. was in 55 MPH zone. Probably hit it at about 10 MPH. It ran off. Looked like it did not get hurt very bad.

Looks like the ambient temp sensor, they are usually located up front in the airstream like that. As long as the temp reading in the dash is in line with outside temp, you should be ok without replacement. It appears the bracket it was mounted in is gone from the crash though.

Looks like an air temperature sensor for the instrument cluster. You could always test it with a hairdryer or similar. To reinstall it, there should a pushpin type faster.

Personally I'd just nylon wire tie it up out of the way and wait and see if more needs done... considering 2013 Fiesta with other damage that while possibly cosmetic, would be a higher priority to me. If you can't get under the vehicle and see anything then while tackling that other damage with the bumper off, you might see more about how/where it mounts.

Is that threading molded in such that a nut-like-object could screw on, or just stacked single rings like it friction fits into a round hole of just the right size?

Tie it up for now. Getting repair estimates right now. Might DIY the repair myself. Had ford give estimates today. Ford Dealer here in Austin MSRP prices are close to 100% higher than Ford OEM MSRP prices for the same parts.

You could unplug it then look at live data with a scanner (especially Forscan) and see what's not giving you any data.

It slides on to a clip just above the grill. Those threads are not used to secure it on this car.
