HUH?!

The Forester has been the easiest car to maintain, the most problem free, and with the lowest cost of ownership of any car I've owned (including my '06 CRV). I do 90% of all maintenance myself, including oil changes, breaks, transmission/diff fluids, air filter, MAF cleaning, tire rotations, etc.

I really can't say enough about how good our '08 Foz has been. Nearing 100k miles and drives perfect. Looking to buy a truck and it looks like the rolla is gonna hit the door... I just can't get myself to get rid of the Foz

The DI engines can be surprisingly loud! We had a 3.6 DI from GM and it was quiet as a mouse, but the noise was absorbed by the engine cover.

It's weird because there is no engine noise other than the ticking and turbo whistle.

Strange things.

I would definitely include the Forester in this list with a disclaimer: I haven't driven or tested the newly redesigned Foz. I did sit in one at the dealer... mated to the 6spd manual, it looked dreamy to me... but that's because I know/love subies and the mechanically connected AWD with the center diff.... no auto with electronic sensors and computer decided power transfer, or CRV's 'realtime' compares IMO.

Connected to the ground 24/7 by 4 wheels is in a class of it's own.

I've never been a huge fan of Subarus as they seem to have oddball problems, but I have really been liking the XV Crosstrek. The interior on that is perfect!

I'd like one with a 5 speed manual.

Don't sweat it. I've found BITOG isn't very receptive to Subarus.
