Your front doors have the large 'C' stamping which I thought didn't appear until 2015.
How many smiles are on it?
I know from experienceYou'd have problems with body parts (yours and the car) breaking off while waiting at stoplights.
That truck must have been like driving on greased banana peels, and I could totally see why someone would want to put a bigger engine in one after having driven one with the gutless 3.0.I know from experience. When I was younger I put a 400HP Chevy motor in a Ford ranger and used solid mounts. I got a lot of looks at stop lights. That truck shook a lot when the cam hit.
Yeah, my son wants to 302-swap his, but I'm quite happy that he has like 147HP.That truck must have been like driving on greased banana peels, and I could totally see why someone would want to put a bigger engine in one after having driven one with the gutless 3.0.
Can you even license something like that and your province?Yeah, my son wants to 302-swap his, but I'm quite happy that he has like 147HP.
Yup, pretty easily. It's also an easy swap because the 302 was available in its platform-mate the Explorer. Can you even license something like that and your province?
I can't remember what year truck it was (80 something) but it came with the 50HP four cylinder. I didn't even have it paid off when a hole burned through a piston top. After getting it towed I decided to make a few mods. Besides the engine and transmission I added Jeep bucket seats, sun roof and crager keystone classic wheels, 15x9 front 15x12 back. My brother and I even cut and welded a custom length drive shaft for it, never did get it balanced. The first day I took it home it was raining and I couldn't even hardly take off on the wet roads. It's a lot of work stuffing a V8 down in a little truck but it's lots of fun for the young guys. Plenty of S10's out there running corvette motors. I even saw one with an electric motor tied directly to a regular transmission through an adapter plate.Yeah, my son wants to 302-swap his, but I'm quite happy that he has like 147HP.
Yup! My buddy's dad had an S10 that we swapped a couple different 350's into, and then a few different transmissions (TH400, then a built TH350). The original 7.5" diff wasn't up to the task of runs at the track, so swapped in a Ford 8.8" from an Explorer, which had 31-spline shafts and a much stronger axle and tubes, as well as disc brakes. Was a fun project, ran a few different nitrous kits on it. AFAIK, his dad still has the truck, no idea what was changed on it after we stopped working on it.It's a lot of work stuffing a V8 down in a little truck but it's lots of fun for the young guys.
