2013 Accord V6 oil?

Hello! I would like to thank everyone on here for all of the great information provided. I was wondering if you guys could recommend an OCI and oil for my 2013 Accord V6 (non-vcm). It seems the consensus around here is to just follow the maintenance minder, which will put me close to 9K oil changes. I have a little over 3k miles and the oil life is still at 80%. Do you think I will be ok going the full term? I was reading about some of the honda pilot issues and I'm a little concerned.

3. Virginia
4. I would say I drive pretty conservatively
5. My commute is about 25 miles--mostly highway.

I had planned on using Toyota 0w-20 as i can get it pretty cheap from work.

Looks like you've got it under control. Just check the oil level once per week until you see 3-4 weeks with no consumption, then check it once per month. Is this engine direct injection?

Lots of good 0W-20. Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy is quickly climbing the ladder of BITOG favories.

5000 mile changes is a waste. Plenty of documented evidence here on BITOG proving these things can go double that.

The 4 cyl is easy on oil. However, I had an '02 V6 Accord that tended to fuel dilute. I would be conservative with the OCI until you verified that you don't have a problem with your driving style. 5k miles is not a bad start.

Our 2011 VCM hit 15% at 6300 with mostly city driving. I tested the factory fill and replaced it with Honda Genuine Full Syn. The FF had a TBN of 2.0, high moly, a little fuel and lots of metal. It burned 1/3 qt of oil.

OC #2 at 15% after 6400 miles showed 2.0 TBN, no fuel, lower metals and moly and a MUCH stronger add pack than the FF. It burned zero oil.

Based on these results, I will wait until 0% or about 8000 miles for the next change. And while I've gotten excellent results from Honda oil, I will be switching to TGMO since I've got three cases in stock.

Either way your good. The Toyota 0/20 is well respected. Use a high quality filter.
Purolator, bosch, and wix/ napa gold are always good. OEM filters are usually high quality as well.

I think you want to have factory filled in the engine until oil life monitor down to about 15-20% as recommended by Honda. If you gave good discount on Toyota 0w-20, I would use it above all else.

Then you might like the idea of using something else since that slop has a NOACK of 12%

WARNING WILL ROBINSON WARNING! If you follow the Honda engineers oil recommendation and the oil life monitor you will sicken of the car long before the engine shows any signs of wear and sell it for great profit.
