Hi all. I own a 2013 ram 1500 with the 4.7. I just replaced the engine after extreme neglect killed the past engine at 166K.
I have 250mi on the rebuilt 4.7. I want to know what would be good maintenance schedules to follow. I don’t run the recommended 5W-20, i run 5w-30 in it. Right now for break in it’s running conventional 10w30.
I’m going to follow 4k intervals, as i think most of us know how weak the oiling system is on the 4.7. I’m just unsure which oil i should use for maximum film strength and maximum protection of the engine. I am thinking PUP 5W-30 with Motorkote friction remover after i hit 1k on the rebuild. Thoughts?
