I bought car with 25000 miles and have put 3000 on it so far. I love it. suits my tastes very well. So far I can say no problems. actual mpg (not dash readout) has been consistantly 22 - 22.5 driving in very hilly country roads with some occasional city driving and almost no highway. Recently took 600 mile round trip on interstate with 5 adults and a full trunk and averaged 30.5 running about 63-67. Ride is firm but not rough, no wallowing. Nice handling, quiet and the brakes and steering are both very good.

And if it turns out to be a good car then keep it for a while. Two cars that appear to be the same often times turn out to have very different lives. When you buy a car it may depend on if there is a full moon that night or not that decides how the car will turn out.

My oldest son has the same and likes it . Had some issues with the rear brakes (pads siezed in saddles/rust on rotors) when it sat for a few months while he was gone on training . His only other complaint is rear visability and I agree , they are hard to see out the back as a lot of new cars are now .

Wow good highway MPG. My weenie 98 Taurus with the powerhouse 145HP V-6 has gotten 28MPG on the highway as its best.

I do drool over the newer ones. I just don't know if I can justify the size and or MPG with the price of gas and my commute anymore. I hope it serves you well.

Yes, the view out past the c pillar is tough. have to keep aware of surrounding traffic. I got used to it and ok now

Ford definitely did the right thing with the "new" Taurus. Aggressive styling, competitive chassis, powerful engine. It's not the same 2001 Taurus that I had (which was good - that platform was DATED).

The high beltline / big pillar styling, while it may look nice, it's impossible to see out of. At least it has big mirrors!

If I cruised at 60-65 in my 01 Taurus with the Vulcan engine, I could do 30-32MPG. Best ever was 34MPG
