Excuse my ignorance about this oil but is this a synthetic only oil or is it available as both conventional and synthetic?

You can get it in conventional, blend, or synthetic. Personally I would forgo the 0W20 and go with a light weight 5W30 like Valvoline Syntec.

You can't make a 0W-20 or any 0W-XX oil from conventional base stocks. 99% are 100% synthetic.

The Honda Brand 0W-20 comes in both a syn blend and full synthetic variation.
The FF on the Fit is actually a 0W-10 oil. Running one of the Honda 0W-20 oils is the way to go.

The Fit does excellent on 0w-20, according to used oil analysis posted on this site.

This posting is doubly ironic considering the OP lives in Texas and you're in Michigan. I would think 0w20 would be beneficial for your cold starts up there.

Don't bother second guessing Honda, find one of the many great 0w-20 oils out there and stick with it. Change it when your maintenance indicator tells you to (which will be at about 7500 city miles or 10,000 highway).

His information may be accurate but if so it comes from Honda Canada. He has also made the statement that the K20 variation in the Civic Si has a factory fill of 5w20 when it is clearly 5w30 here in the States.

The US Fit factory fill is 0w20, not 0w10.

Trying to go cheap on your Honda!? It only comes in synthetic. So enjoy that fact that from day one your car will be running a good oil that rocks the cold starts from day one.

Actually, not trying to cheap out... I want the Fit well taken care of. It is the first new car for me in a little over 10 years so I have a real appreciation for it.

I've been rolling with a 2001 Neon since 2007 that has treated me decently... but it was time for something new. There are likely a coupla OA results for the Neon posted way back in the archives here, but the Neon is headed to auction now.

If the engine is made in Japan it comes with the Honda Brand 0W-10 in the sump.
This applies to a number of models including of course the small hybrids.
