I went ahead and changed this at almost 8,700 miles because the OLM was at 10%. I was pleased with the wear metals, but kinda disappointed in the TBN, meaning the oil is essentially done. This was the first run on PU, which is now repeated for the new change. The first change was on unknown Ford dealer oil. Is there a chance that subsequent changes of PU will help the TBN hold on longer? Based on other things I've read about iron levels, calcium, and anti-wear additives, it looks like I should be able to go longer. Thanks! Fusion Oil Report 6/1/2014

Your incorrect about the TBN. 2.5 is your remaining TBN according to the Blackstone report, that is very high for an almost 9000 mile run. You could probably add 4,000 miles to that. Also summer miles are easier on TBN.

The uoa is nearly perfect. What is the oil filter you used? Your insolubles rating is nearly perfect.

Thanks guys. I was really thinking this oil should go 12k plus, since probably 80% of the mileage is highway, and this interval had lots of idling time in Jan, Feb, and March. Oil filter was a simple Motorcraft FL-910S. This change I went with the NAPA Platinum equivalent of the FL-400S, it's about 2" taller. Still PU 5W-20.

No the edit time is about 5 minutes. I suggest you resample at about 13k miles regardless of what the oil life monitor says. If you do resample you will probably notice higher insolubles due to the low efficiency of the Napa Platinum which is only about 50% efficient. I would recommend a Fram Ultra XG 3600 which is 99% efficient. I use the XG 3600 on my Taurus sometimes when I don't use the FL400S.

Should there be any reason not to try say Toyota 0W-20 in this? I'm pretty sure it's quite a bit thinner than the PU.

1. What kind of vehicle you have - 2011 Fusion 2.5L non-flex fuel
2. What your owner's manual says -- not just viscosity, but certifications (look for acronyms like API SM, ILSAC GF-4, etc.) and change intervals as well 5W-20 7500 miles
3. Where you live- Mid-east Indiana
4. How you drive (easy? hard? fast? slow?)- kind of easy 80% of the time, 5-8mph over speed limit (mostly 65-73mph)
5. What your daily drive is like (short trips? long trips? city? highway?)- Work drive is 13mi each way, with frequent 200 mile trips (2-3x per month)
6. Whether your car has any known problems - nope. 2x uoas have come back good, no known issues

I see no reason to change what you're doing unless you can't find PU in Stock. Toyota 0w20 is fine oil but you seem to have found something that works well already.

Because I'm of the same mind of alot of the other oilheads are on here... I want to try at least some of the top-shelf oils to see which one is actually best for my engine... there is not alot of heavy usage on this engine (mostly highway) and so once a year or so I'm willing to try something different. It's also the only vehicle I've had in the last 6 years that actually started out under a factory warranty, and now that that is done, cost/performance ratio comes into play.

What's the consensus on adding MoS2 to the PU?
