200K Transition Mobil1 To Amsoil

2008 Corolla in impeccable condition reaching 200k miles, all original equipment, no failures of a part yet. Just ran Mobil1 EP 5W30 for 10K miles and will send it off to a lab. Switching to Amsoil Signature Series 5W-30 with plans to extend my intervals to 15K miles. Have that lab tested. I prepurchased 3 lab kits.
Do you think that's a good mileage plan ,?
Mostly entire highway miles.

not bashing amsoil I think you should stay with 10,000 mile oil changes max and stick with what you been doing. have you tried bumping back to a 7,500 mile as the vehicle ages? just being conservative.

The right "plan" is to use the UOA data and decide what you OCI should be.
So this thread is premature; it's just conjecture until the info comes back from the lab.

I wouldn't extend the oil changes. I would keep going the same direction that brought you to 200 rounds. If it isn't broke don't try to fix it and the cost savings is minimal as far as extending those intervals. Those Corolla's run forever if you keep the oil clean and probably run forever if you extend your changes however I always lean toward more frequent changes. I ran a Corolla to 220,000 miles and it ran perfect and didn't use any oil but I changed every 3,000 miles. The car was a hospital courier delivery vehicle and averaged about 1,000 miles per week going long distances from health car facilities and back.

I have never gone over 5K miles on Mobil1 EP entire life of the car.
I drive over we 200 miles to and from work every day. I want to extend intervals and use best protection. Is 15k or 20k miles a good first interval with Amsoil?

Why do you want to extend intervals? I'm not asking philosophically. Want to know what your goal is. Minimize cost on the rest of the life of the engine or minimize time spend doing oil changes or want to do some science and see what the data says?

I need to reduce my frequency of changing oil every 5k miles, two cars shared but it is expensive and I can save time and money and keep a top notch lubricant in my engine.

Besides, I have a years worth of oil and filters from Amsoil. I'm going to use it and test it out.

the oil physically being fit to endure the extended drain doesn't necessarily make your engine suitable to do so.

Why the switch to Amsoil ?
You are going to do uoa ! why not extend the mobil out to 15k and check it before a switch.
Ep is an outstanding oil I don't see the benefit of Amsoil at this point

You don’t need the UOA to run AMSOIL 10k … save the $35 for more AMSOIL - you already doubled the OCI …
Need to see that filter at 10k too …

i would invest in a filter cutter vs the uoa. that's the cutter I personally use.

My engine is spotless
A cutter would never come in handy
