But not for much longer intervals with perfectly good engine oil ready for more miles to go. Mobil1 can't and Amsoil canYou’re already there!
Why change up something that’s working? Stick to what got you there!2008 Corolla in impeccable condition reaching 200k miles, all original equipment, no failures of a part yet. Just ran Mobil1 EP 5W30 for 10K miles and will send it off to a lab……..
Could very well be !Because this post was to get members jerked up with an amsoil - Mobil bash fest luckily it stayed sober.
There are other reasons to get a filter cutter, Especially going extended drains. My engine is spotless
A cutter would never come in handy
isn’t that what they’re all shooting for these days. Castrol and Pennzoil have the 20K claim. If Mobil has the 25K impressiveCould very well be !
Doesn't mobil 1 EP carry the up to 25000 mile guarantee ?
I think who ever posted something smells fishy may be on to something.
Why would you screw with something that supposedly has ran 200000 trouble free miles ?
I know ! his money he can do what he wants
That’s what my thoughts were but I wasn’t going to get involved OP knows what he’s got going on there. I would want to see how the filter is holding up look for silver flakes and fairy dust. There are other reasons to get a filter cutter, Especially going extended drains.
Long time Amsoil user here.I have never gone over 5K miles on Mobil1 EP entire life of the car.
I drive over we 200 miles to and from work every day. I want to extend intervals and use best protection. Is 15k or 20k miles a good first interval with Amsoil?
I have a stash of Amsoil filters and Mobil1 filters. Both should handle 10k miles.Long time Amsoil user here.
In your position I'd sample the Amsoil at 10k (leaving it in), and extend further based on UOA.
Be certain to use a filter rated for 20k though...unless checking as suggested above.
I've never used Amsoil before. Feel it's a superior productI think this is a catfish to support and promote amsoil.![]()
It may be superior, dunno. But it seems to me Mobil 1 has a pretty darn good track record. Our beloved 2006 Acura TSX has lived on M1 5w30 for the last 245K and does not go through a drop between 5K services. In fact, I use the MityVac to suck out the earl and swap the filter every 2nd service. I would drive this car to NY right now.I've never used Amsoil before. Feel it's a superior product
This is some inventory for a first time userI've never used Amsoil before. Feel it's a superior product
Yep. Until things get settled in the M&A world - many here are moving to PG/PG related filters for a reason …There are other reasons to get a filter cutter, Especially going extended drains.
Sounds like a decent plan but I would second the idea of leaving it in and sampling at 10k miles and see what the report says. If your corolla is indeed spotless inside (including the piston oil return holes) then it would be interesting to see how far you can really go on the Amsoil with sampling.2008 Corolla in impeccable condition reaching 200k miles, all original equipment, no failures of a part yet. Just ran Mobil1 EP 5W30 for 10K miles and will send it off to a lab. Switching to Amsoil Signature Series 5W-30 with plans to extend my intervals to 15K miles. Have that lab tested. I prepurchased 3 lab kits.
Do you think that's a good mileage plan ,?
Mostly entire highway miles.
Thanks
