Most car manufacturers want you to use the jump start connections under the hood for safety, to prevent sparks near the battery.
Also, if the charger came with ring mount connections, use them. Connect them to the jump connections and splice whatever additional wire is required to run the plug out through the front grill area, or up by the windshield wipers, whichever is the shorter distance.
I have done this on all my cars so I don't have to constantly open the hood, which will wear out the latch cable...ask me how I know.
Making it simply to connect, makes for better compliance. You will do it more often when it is easy to accomplish.
Holy cow. Is nothing traditional or simple on a Prius? My neighbor is a good caregiver, but she has no mechanical aptitude. I can't walk. So I can't do it. My mom is old and can barely walk now, can't drive, and has no mechanical aptitude.
I guess I'll have to have my cousin put the charger on my mom's Prius next time he comes to town.
My mom had the AGM battery replaced a year ago. The AGM is fine, but she's been having a bad hip problem. She can't drive for a few months to maybe never.
My cousin put the charger on the battery in the trunk. It seemed simpler than hooking up to fuse box under hood. He found the owners manual and it had brief instructions for putting charger on battery in the trunk.
