2008 Scion xB 2az-fe water pump leak (AGAIN)

Long story short, my original started leaking around 25k miles and the dealer replaced it under warranty. Fast forward and my replacement has now started leaking within 9 months (only 10k miles)!

Should I request the dealer to use Toyota Red this time to see if this will "fix" the problem? I have 35k on the odo, is the water pump covered under the powertrain warranty once my bumper to bumper coverage is up?

Coolant shouldn't make a difference on it leaking in such a short amount of time. Waterpump should be covered on powertrain warranty beyond the bumper to bumper.

Any repairs should also be covered by their own warranty, usually 12 mo/12k miles - but check your work order for the original repair. And maybe take it to a stealership who knows what they're doing.

Glad I have not run into that issue on my 2008 xB... Have 45K on it and no "red line of death" in the engine, nor coolant level drop.

Hope it stays OK, but if it does fail, hope it is before the 5yr/60K power train warranty...

hope it breaks again! get your money back with the lemon law. i think if the same part fails 3 times, you qualify to get your money back
