2008 Chrysler Oil Filter Alternative

Anyone know of a alternative for the OEM filter for 2008 Chrysler applications. The only filter currently available is the OEM Mopar 04884899AB. Application is a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT 8 6.1 with Amsoil 5-40.

Purolator L24651, Purolator Pure 1 PL24651, Bosch Premium 3410. There may be others. Looks like Wix doesn't offer a suitable replacement yet.

The Rockauto.com site states there are two threads for your model. One is standard thread - other is 22mm. Call the service department to find out which you have.

The new Dodge trucks take the PH-2 or equivalent.
Some of the parts counter guys don't even know that they
changed the filter specs.
Bummer.

I'd stick with OEM for a few changes. That will keep discussions down if you have any early engine issues related to oil.

It is common for WIX to have a number for a filter that will be released in the future. With your vast knowledge I fully expected you to be aware of the thread change made on the Dodge/Chrysler vehicles for 08. Just like GM did on most 2007's, they changed the threads to a 22mm size.

Usually they list it ahead of the release date ..but may have changed that policy. They only list ..like Caravans up to 2007 ..and then list everything except the oil filter for 2008 models. They released the GM part number before it was available.

So, Pablo's number may truly be the one

Per Amsoil Tech email, No EAO available and Wix not available yet. Purolater has a filter available so I'm debating going with the Pure 1 PL24651 or the FL820 Motorcraft. The thing that I'm confused about is why Wix does not state that the 51372 can be used in this application as it interchangable with the Purolater filter.

Any thoughts? I can't find any specs on the OEM Mopar filter to compare it too.
