Toyotas have horrible seats, head gasket issues, paint problems, etc..
\Mercedes and VW have horrible electrical problems. Replace the brakes lately on a BMW?? Try 900 dollars because by design they wear down the rotors as well as the pads.

Nissan? Great engines and transmissions, cheap and garbage interiors

They all have problems... but for some reason, companies like Toyota can do no wrong, yet they have the most recalled cars... Hmmmm...

Cause Toyota's the best! Don't you know that by now!! Toyota's the best until you have to fork over 1000 on a repair....then there peices of [censored]. One of my friends you to only drive toyota's. I asked him why? He says the last forever! Wow I said so why do you always lease them for 3 years?

Some people are into leasing because they like driving a newer car. That in mind, why should he care about what he is leasing?

I wonder what's wrong with the check engine lite? Thoses trannys are pretty reliable. He should take it to another dealer maybe they could fix it. If they can't there is a review panel contact in owners manual that can try to resolve the issue.

I can't share my opinion without starting a war? C'mon...

Get behind the wheel of a 2008 Malibu or 2009 Traverse. It's a whole different ball-game.

The Impala is an example of old-school GM that is just rotting on the vine.

I'm sure I will someday. I just was pointing out that if they kept up the Impala stuff that they were/are heading for disaster.

GM really made the big turn in 2008 with the Malibu.

I agree that the Impala is a prime example of old-school chintzy GM, but it's at the end of its life.

The '08 Malibu is a great car.

Might be too late... They were saying on our news the other day that they are thinking of pulling out of Canada completely!

I'm not in the market for a new car, but I would always visit the domestic to see what they offer, as well as the competition. Then I would do my research on reliability, build quality and owner experience etc. and make a decision.

I'm not sure why anyone would lease a Toyota/Honda/Chevy/Ford/Insert Non-Luxury Car Here. Leasing is all about getting the unreliable, expensive to fix, free-maintenance cars like BMW and Merc, driving the ever loving snot out of them for 3 years, and then unloading them just in time for the warranty to run out and the $129 dealer tire rotations to begin.

Unacceptable!

Not covered under the 5/100 warranty?

It definitely is, but the rear seat is even worse. I'm 5'10" and my head rubs against the headliner if I sit in the rear of the Malibu.

We recently rented out a 08 G6 GT. Was NOT impressed with it, period. The one thing I could say about it was that it would haul major gluteous maximus!!!!

The new V-6s are fine. No more intake gasket issues since the water crossover for the cylinder heads is external. Plus they have variable valve timing. Ours just putses along at 1100 rpm doing 45 mph and it will accelerate in 4th gear from 1100 rpm up to highway speed easily thanks to the VVT. Plus it returns outstanding highway fuel mileage for having 220 hp.

I'm not going to say our 07 Impala is the best car ever built. It has a few rattles and certain parts of the interior are cheaply built and installed, but it's light years ahead of older GMs we've had.

The doors on the Impala have that nice heavy solid feal when they close, the HVAC controls have that nice almost European "click" when you move them.

My main gripe is rear seat leg room. It's less then the Malibu, and the Impala is supposed to be the bigger more "road Trip" type car. They sacrificed leg room for trunk space. You could fit several bodies in the trunk of the new Impalas.

Rented a current body style impala 3.9, I have to say, very impressed.

Though the rental agencies call it a fullsize car, I consider it more of a fortified taurus. That is to say hush-quiet inside and very safe feeling, but total roominess nothing to write home about. At least wide enough in back for a kid seat in the middle and two adults riding outboard. I would not use it as an example of GM's flagship car, or even chevy's: They still need a V8 RWD barge for that.

The cyl shutoff mode is seamless and the car's great on gas. Good pick for someone driving 50k a year.
