This is a car I don’t get to drive often, so oil was in the sump for a little over 2 years. Pretty happy with the results here. But, due to the viscosity loss, I’ll probably limit my OCI’s to 5,000mi. This oil starts out at a 100c KV of 23.6cst. Rod bearings were changed changed at 85k mi.

Edit: forgot to add, no makeup oil added during the OCI. Only dropped about 1/4qt as indicated on the oil gauge.

Love these engines, and the v10, esp. Will have one someday.

Do you spend a lot of time with the revs way up?

Also, pls post pix of old bearings and the car itself if you get a moment.

Hey guys, I appreciate the feedback. This oil is a 10w-60 that has sheared down to the bottom half of a 50 grade. The BE rod bearings are spec’d for a 60, so I’ll probably end up planning my OCI’s around viscosity alone. Also, the shop that did the bearings (MPorium BMW…one of the best indy BMW shops in the country for this model) recommended this oil and 5k mile OCI’s.

Oh yes. High RPM as often as I can. lol

I have an Eventuri carbon plenum that lets those individual throttle bodies sing at 8,400rpm. It is a glorious sound. Very E46 CSL-ish.
