Previous UOA here.

170000 miles on the engine at the time of this sample. No engine-related maintenance/repair operations this OCI.

AFAICT, titanium is an additive in this oil. Asked the lab to stop flagging it but they insist for some reason, so here we are.

Usage on this car has cratered since we bought our 328i (more on that in another post). Miles per year are one-third what they used to be at peak.

Not sure what to make of PQ index ticking up. Not a big deviation from the average, but a significant change from previous, percentage-wise. I mentioned in my previous post that I had changed driving styles, trying to either stay at low RPMs or floor it to redline, with as little moderate usage as possible. Since then, I've done less of the flooring it to redline and more of the gentle driving – perhaps to the point of lugging. Maybe that explains the PQ bump (and the lead blip – that could only be either an anomaly or main bearings).

But probably I'm just overthinking a no-news-is-good-news report. Even if those blips mean something, it sure as heck ain't much.

I like that fuel dilution is consistently lower than it used to be. This engine sure isn't getting any younger, so I'm hoping the decrease is from fuel and/or different driving style.

Next report will have some track usage on it. Expecting that to be a different story. Watch this space...

It shows 3 L added, is that supposed to be quarts? Both almost the same amounts just curious. You certainly can't complain about these results & looks like you've been very consistent with testing your M3 Turbo engine oil. You could get double the miles out of this oil very easy & still be ready for more. Thanks for sharing.

170k miles on an S65 with factory main bearings. Wow

Liters. This oil comes in liter bottles.

Yep.

Rod bearings were replaced preventatively with the updated lead-free BMW bearings, but all the other guts are original. Main bearing failure is really rare and seems to be limited to engines that have been messed with. Knock on wood!
