Blackstone's comments: You extended your oil use to 3,000 miles this time and there were only slight increase in copper.
However, all of the wear metals still read at or very close to the universal averages (which are based on a
4,900-mile oil run), so your Tacoma is doing quite well in comparison. The 0.5% fuel didn’t hurt anything.
The TBN read 2.5, showing plenty of active additive left in the oil. The oil's viscosity was just a bit low for a
10W/30 but not enough to cause any harm to the engine. Nice wearing Toyota at 42,598 total miles! Try
5,000 miles for your next oil change.

The truck is used about 90% back and forth to work which is about 9 miles one way and sometimes 3-4 mile drive to lunch. Not much of warmup, pretty much start up and drive with the A/C running. I thought the flash point would be higher for a semi synthetic oil. I still have about 50 quarts of this and will use it until gone, but will run it to 4000 miles.

I'll have to disagree with the comment on TBN; 2.5 after only 3k miles? Where did it start at? Blackstone considers 1.0 to be low, so there's only 1.5 units of TBN left, after only 3k miles? If it started at 3.5, and dropped to 2.5, then I might agree with addyguy. But if it started around 7.0, and dropped to 2.5 in just 3k miles, I'd say there's reason to doubt it "easily" makinig it to 6k miles, if at all.

Overall, the wear metals and contaminants look fine. I would not hesitate to use this oil, but I'd be a bit concerned about greatly extending the OCI without tracking the TBN along the way.

Thanks for UOA'ng this oil, Bullet!

If you remember, bought 3 cases of this oil at Alco disc. store to run in my 100 mile a day commuter Saturn and GF's Camry.

Looks good, more Calcium would be nice, but of course it's not a flagship oil.

I should do one on my Saturn with this oil since the previous owners didn't take too good care of it.

The TBN starts out at 7.8 http://www.conocophillipslubricants.com/documents/phillips66/automotive_engine_oils/66_TA_Syn_MO.pdf

The TBN falls fast in this engine (1GRE V6). I ran 5w30 Havline synthetic to 7500 miles and the TBN fell to .1 and another sample at 2100 miles the TBN was 1.8 according to Blackstone. I bought the Havoline at Big Lots, but what should that matter. On 5w 30 penzoil Plat. the TBN was 2.9 at 5000 miles. Maybe there is a reason some oils show up at discount stores.
