manufacture calls for 5w-20 in thistoyota Rav 4 4 cylinder. Will it hurt the vehicle if I burn 5W-30 synthetic oil?

No, not a bit. Mileagemay take a bit of a dip, but it's going to anyway since winter's coming.

Hopefully you meant "use" not "burn".

If you want a thin 5w30 try Castrol Edge. I run PP 5w20 or QHP 5w20 in my 2008 and am very happy with it.

I have run 20 and 30 wts in my 2006 4 cyl Tacoma there is really not much difference.

I use 5-30 in my Duratech Ford 4 cyl engines. Both are very quite with no oil consumption.

I prefer 5w30 in my dad's soon to be ex Lexus ES 350. It's much smoother. Yup butt dyno again.
