Bought this used with 57,500 miles on the odo. All original owner records show this car was well cared for and most of the maintenance was done early.

That said, I obviously want the car to last me a long while! Has anyone any oil recommendations for this? I have some Amsoil 5w-40 European blend from ... 5 or 6 years ago from my GTI 1.8T that I never used/opened. Would this be safe to use if shaken well before used or should I get a fresh batch?

Other suggestions are welcome as well, of course.

I plan on running FP60+ and LC20 in this routinely if that makes any difference.

put some money in a rainy day fund for t-belts etc. Might change out the coolant if it hasnt been done recently.. (use the subaru oem coolant with the oem additive too)

Coolant has been done.. was done at 49k according to Carfax. That was 9k/1yr ago. All service was done at the Subaru dealer it was bought from originally.. which is also the dealer I bought it from. I'm working with them to get the service records printed for my personal files.

I'm definitely not excited about doing the t-belt, I generally dump cars before this comes along due to it's high cost to have done (I am not mechanically savvy)... on my previous VW's it was a 1000-1200 dollar job... not sure about Subaru.

Pennzoil Platinum in 5w30 is an excellent turbo oil and has the Honda/Acura approval. I used OEM & WIX filters. An excellent engine & vehicle.

Timing belt on a Subaru will cost you around $1000 at the dealer. There are plenty of good independent shops that can do it much cheaper.

Yes I will shop around when the time comes. I see a good parts kit is still $350 of that with a water pump and pulleys, belts etc.
