It has the same engine and transmission as the Camry. So as long as their is enough space then yes you can run it. My 03 Camry uses a variety of Toyota and aftermarket filters. I usualy use the 90915-YZZA1 but this last trip to the dealer they were celling a cheaper Toyota filter as part # 90915-YZZD1.Puralator and Walmart Tech 2000 and Baldwin all cary a filter in most retail setting that fit this application.

Motors are the same (2AZ-FE), transmission has differnt gear ratios. My Cam has the filter on the bottom by the pan, open end up and there is plenty of room. Have not peeked under a tC but I wonder why they spec'ed out a shorter filter?

Can I use the Toyota Camry filter (10004) instead of the higher priced Scion filter for this engine? It is the 2.4l camry engine.

The 90915-YZZD1 is larger (both in diameter and in length) and is spec'd for Toyota's 6-cylinder engines.

Kreativ, You are corect I mixed up my filters it should of read 90915-YZZF1 was the most recent filter swap. It is not the Japanees made Denso I like so much it is a Thailand made filter. I was close to my dealership that day so I poped in and bought one! When I got home I noticed the difference! If had noticed it at the time I would have passed! For $3.99 it is still a good buy though!!

I also bought a filter for my Mom's Tundra and I belive that is were the "D" sneaked in as I belive it is a 90915-YZZD3 I belive. Unfortunenatly I am in the basement and the filters are out in the pole barn! So I am at the mercy of my memory!

mehere, Toyota has a lot of different filters suppliers that make geniune Toyota filters! They all come in the red and white Toyota box and they all say Denso on them! The difference is where they are made and the last two charters. Their is a huge difference in how the filter are made,the materials, the features etc!!!! The YZZA2 should do fine. When you look at the inside of the filter through the clean oil output hole you want to see a plastic cage instead of a metal one. These have the synthetic glass mat media that is folded in outward radials. The ones made elsware have steel tubes in the center inside and are made out of conventional filter media and in a conventional fashion!

Thanks for the info on the "F" filter. This sounds like the 4-cylinder equivalent of the 6/8-cylinder "D" filters.

Have all the YZZA1 filters you've encountered been made in Japan?

picked up a YZZA2 filter at the Yota dealership in Phoenix - said maide in USA on it and has a steel core inside with holes. Is this a bad thing?

The 10004's are the best ones and are madein Japan. All of Toyota's filters are excellent. The YZZA1 is my second choice and the YZZA2 is my third choice. The only time I will take anything other then the 100004 is when the price is right. The 100004 is pricey! The YZZA1 adn YZZA2 are usualy about $3-$4 a filter. The 100004 is about $6 if you buy them in bulk.

I use these on my 2006 tC. Great deal on 10-packs from a great dealer. (not affiliated with at all)
They are the longer units, and I believe that they are the newer, glued-edge models.
