I thought I'd get around to uploading the report from my Speed 6. I bought the car used with 10,000 miles on it and recently changed the oil, transmission, transfer case and rear diff fluids. I sent the oil off for analysis to see how the dealer fill held up after 3,000 miles. I put about 2,100 of those miles on the oil with a mix of city and highway driving.

The car now has Quaker Q Advance in the motor with Red Line in the transmission, transfer case and rear end. I plan on running the Q for 5,000 miles before I change it out and submit it for analysis.

07 MS6 here, 700 miles on car and factory fill. Your Iron and copper are scary high for me at that mileage, everything else looks ok. Im getting into the RLI here and may try that, previously had very good UOA results by Oil Analyzers Inc. using Royal Purple.

How are you driving the car? I know the cyl sleaves and compressor wheel are steel/iron so the oil may be breaking in the turbo.

So what oil does the owner's manual recommend? This oil looks like it's not up to task. High wear, low viscosity and high insolubles. It's a good thing you switched to a different oil.

SL 5w30. Im thinking after reading all the other DISI posts 5w40 may be in order, though the Mazda dealer heres says that for max power one could use a quality syn like RP, RL, or Ams 5w20 and be safe.

My EVO VIII with 330 crank horse pwr on 91 octane loves 10w30. Shears 10w40s and 15w50s down to hefty 30 weights. But, its wear is nearly nil and always has been. These Mazda DISI Turbos seem to wear more from what Im ready so Id agree with you, need something more robust. Id imagine the Vis recommendation is more for the EPA. Hopefully some one with one of these engines runs a 40 weight before me.

Dealer here wont use 20 weight unless you provide the quality syn like RP, RL, or Ams. If its their stuff they insist on 30 weight

It was dealer fill. The service manager assured me that they use 5W-30 as that is what is called for in the manual. The copy of the service I have from them doesn't mention grade.

I have been "enjoying" this car, so I would expect some wear to be higher than it should. I did put a couple doses of Lube Control in the oil in the 2,000 miles that I put on it.

Motorcraft makes a 5-30 still, but I would bet that the dealer used 5-20 instead, since that is what they carry as a bulk oil. All new fords use 5-20, so it is much more likely they used that instead.

There is a chance the dealer used 5W-20 as "theedge67" suggests. They did it to me. I wouldn't run the Q Advance to 5k miles. Wear is high and caution should be taken. I'd say, check the air filter (or just put a new one in) and run the QS oil to 4k and check again.

I changed my oil yesterday and totally forgot to take a sample of my Chevron Delo 15W-40/Pennzoil dino 5W-20 mix. I was pizzed!

Forgot to mention....fuel also messed up your number. I can tell be the smell of my used oil yesterday that fuel was going to be 1% or so.

The air filter wasn't too bad, but I did install a new OEM one as part of my maintenance when I did the rest of the fluids.

How many miles do you have on your MZR? What oil has served you best so far. I currently have about 800 miles on my MS6 MZR, how would you recommend I proceed with break in OCIs/oils?

Thanks!

RI_RS4 wrote a great post about break-in in one of the BMW 335 threads. Do a search on that. I followed it in breaking in my new Passat until about 1500 miles and then drained the factory fill. So far I have no detectable oil consumption. Some owners experience heavy oil consumption even when new. So I'm fairly confident I broke this thing in right. Keep in mind that VW 2.0T is also a DI engine so will have similar issues as the Mazda engines.

Got about 8500 miles on my Mazdaspeed 3 with the same engine, have had 2 changes, one at about 500 miles and again at about 4,500. Thinking of putting in some M1 10W-30. Those of you with the DISI MZR, check out mazda247forums (or something like that, can't remember exactly). They've conclusively determined the engine is Mazda-recommended to get 10W30, maybe for these wear issues we're seeing here.

For me, I know that with ~4k miles on this oil and some hard driving, it is not burning any and the oil is a healthy color, so until I get my ---- UOA kit, I'm probably ok.
