Evidently, you have never owned an old Saturn car.
 
I would stay away from Ferrari then. They tend to consume a bit.

PS Thin oil for leaky rings and thick oil for leaky valve seals for lowest consumption.

1qt in 6k is nothing, but if you switch to a brand like Pennzoil or Castrol I guarantee the consumption will stop. Not that M1 doesn't protect well..
 
Also I recommend Redline 0W-20 for an OCI or two this will clean out your engine, clean piston rings and the esters will cause your valve guides to seal also. This will help with your consumption at least this is the theory.
