Brother's car diagnosed:
So the noise turned out to be BOTH front wheel bearings going bad at the same time. GM dealer wanted $500 for both.
Also there was an oil leak that was determined to be coming from the head gasket. Dealer wanted $1600 for that.
Brother didn't like the sounds of that and let the dealer know as the car only has 58k on it.
2 hours later, dealer calls and says "Pay us $250 deductible and we'll fix it all for free." And he did, and they did.
Nice on the part of GM to pick up this large tab for a car not under warranty. My beef is a bad head gasket after only 58K AND wheel bearings? I don't have to touch my bearings on my cars and they never go bad.
